Are Fitness Tests Important ?
An aspect of training that football players have to face often and find quite bothersome is fitness testing. One of the most important and best ways to create or design a training program that is beneficial to the player is through testing. Without assessments and tests, you are essentially walking in the dark. You do not know whether to move right or left. You are unable to properly figure out the direction you should move your training in or what you should be working on. Conducting tests means that the light has been turned on and the path towards your goals has been lit. The way is clear and the obstacles that may be faced are made visible.
There are a great number of tests available to help assess every aspect of a footballer’s physical abilities, mental abilities, and overall performance. One of those many tests is the injury prevention test which evaluates a player’s risk or susceptibility to injury. There are also tests that measure your muscle strength, the balance between opposing muscles, as well as the symmetry of muscle strength between the right and left sides of your body. Some tests can even evaluate your psychological capability to withstand being on the field. Are you ready to carry the responsibility of a football match? Are you prepared to endure the pressure of competition? While assessing those physical and mental states your performance can also be evaluated by undergoing football skill tests. How consistent and accurate is your shooting aim?
Some tests can also evaluate your genetic compatibility to the training program. Some players respond quickly to specific exercises while others do not. There are some exercises that you may respond to quicker than other exercises that need more effort. Using these DNA tests, you can get an early preview into how your body will respond to the suggested training program. That provides you with the opportunity to properly dictate the program you will be following and how to allocate your time properly.
These questions and these tests help you know where to start. They help to save your time and conserve your energy by dictating the skills that need improvement. Tests clarify the causes behind a player’s possible shortcomings so that you avoid wasting precious time and effort in the wrong places. Tests draw out the best map or path that you can follow to get to your football destination and goals.
When you create a training program you have to know what your current state is. You need to know what state you are starting from to be able to have a point of comparison when you begin training. In addition to that you need to be able to see where you stand in comparison to other players worldwide. Today, with the advancements that the football world has endured you can gain information on a wide array of players in a variety of teams and countries. You assess your skills here in Egypt and can see where you are in comparison to the European League players. Through some tests you can see where you rank as a football player. This gives you perspective. It allows you to see realistically where your skills are ranked now and how far or close you are to where you want to be in the future.
If you are working with an experienced professional trainer, there is no way you can begin training without undergoing the proper testing procedure. To be able to train with Coach Zidan, multiple tests are conducted so you can start on the right path.
Tests are not an option, a bother, or a waste of time. It is one of the most important and most beneficial aspects of training that should be conducted every 3 months. You need to know and be able to evaluate if you are actually benefiting. Were you able to progress following that training program? Was being a part of that team or club of actual use to you? Was that coach’s guidance actually helpful? Did my body respond well to the changes it endured?
Constant testing is the best follow up to changes in training and routine. It is the proper measure of progress and improvement. Prioritize testing. Prioritize and commit to consistent testing every 3 months to assess how far forward you’ve progressed. Try as much as you can to get to know and understand your body. Testing gives you the chance to do that. The more you know your body, the better you understand how to treat it, how to help push it forward and develop it. Testing is the best way to start and the best way to move forward. Prioritize it. Put effort into it. Spend some money on it. Give it some time and some care. It will give back to you in more. The more time you spend on testing, the more the path towards your targets and goals lights up.
